Dawn Mountain

A poem by Loretta Strharsky

When did I first see you?

A majestic dawn of colors

Painted on your towering peak

Beyond any artist’s brush

Or photographer’s lens

I stopped in reverence

Respecting a beauty I never knew

I felt the blush of your colors kiss my face

You, so gently intense

Immersed in your hues of dawn

Grasping the indelible mark you’ve made

You warmed my shoulder with

The drama of an all-encompassing first love abiding

I shuttered.
